Engineering & Reverse Engineering at a glance

CBM’s engineering staff supports manufacturing: reverse engineering worn or undocumented parts, building 3D CAD models and 2D engineered drawings, and programming the machines that make the part. The team works in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Esprit and Edgecam, and measures existing parts with FARO scanning and laser tracking.

For lifting beams, structural components, stands and lifting fixtures, CBM offers structural inspection and engineering certification with a Professional Engineering stamp.

What engineering covers at CBM

Reverse engineering

A worn, broken or undocumented part is measured with FARO scanning and laser tracking, then modeled in 3D CAD.

Drawings and programming

2D engineered drawings from SolidWorks and AutoCAD, and CNC programs in Esprit and Edgecam for our own machines.

Structural certification

Structural inspection and engineering certification for lifting beams, structural components, stands and lifting fixtures, with a Professional Engineering stamp.

What you can send us

  • 3D CAD models
  • 2D drawings
  • Photos and measurements
  • The physical part, for scanning
  • Material and operating conditions

What to include

  • The part, photos or any existing drawings
  • What the part does and where it runs
  • Material, if known
  • Whether you need drawings only or a finished part
  • Any certification or P.E. stamp requirement
  • When you need it

Common questions

Can CBM reverse engineer a part?

Yes. Our engineers use 3D CAD software to model the part and create 2D engineered drawings, and the FARO ScanArm compares scanned point clouds with CAD.

Does CBM provide P.E. stamps?

Yes. Structural inspection and engineering certification services cover lifting beams, structural components, stands and lifting fixtures, with a Professional Engineering stamp.

Which software does CBM use?

SolidWorks, Esprit, AutoCAD and Edgecam.

Can CBM manufacture the part after reverse engineering it?

Yes. The part can be machined, welded, inspected and finished in the same facility.

What certifications does CBM hold?

CBM is certified to ISO 9001:2015 by Perry Johnson Registrars, and is a woman-owned business.
