CBM’s milling department is built around large parts. Our Mighty Viper PMW10242AD bridge mill has a work envelope of 398 in in X, 165 in in Y and 116 in in Z, with a 100,000 lb capacity table. Its separately published X travel is 399 in. A Mitsubishi horizontal mill with 120 × 360 × 96 in capacity and a 78 × 78 in pallet that indexes 360° handles large, multi-face work.
Alongside them run horizontal boring mills, a 5-sided gantry mill, multi-pallet horizontal machining centers and vertical machining centers for smaller parts, prototypes and production runs, in metal or plastic.

Bridge, horizontal and vertical milling
Bridge and gantry milling
For long, wide and heavy parts such as machined weldments and large plates. The Mighty Viper’s adjustable W-axis crossrail changes the spindle-to-table distance to extend the work envelope while keeping the spindle stable.
Horizontal milling and boring
For housings, gear cases and parts that need machining on several faces. The Mitsubishi’s 78 × 78 in pallet indexes 360°, so multiple sides can be reached without refixturing.
Vertical and multi-pallet centers
For plates, die plates, molds and smaller components. Mazak 6- and 10-pallet horizontal machining centers support repeat and production quantities.

Oversized workpieces, fabricated and machined under one roof
Large parts rarely start on the mill. At CBM, plate is cut on a 10 × 25 ft plasma table, formed on a Pacific hydraulic press brake and welded by certified welders before the finished weldment is machined. Keeping fabrication and machining in the same facility removes freight between vendors and keeps one shop accountable for the finished part.
Twenty-two overhead cranes rated up to 100,000 lb move heavy weldments between the weld bays, the machines and inspection without leaving the building.
